For today, I chose a manicure which is inspired by a Christmas Song.

We all know the traditional christmas jingles: “Frosty the Snowman”, “Holy Night”, “Jingle Bells”… but every now and then a song comes out for the Holiday Season that catches your attention.  Ever since I heard “Christmas Shoes” it always brings me to tears.  There is something about it that touches a secret part of me (an inner fear/worry) and I always get goosebumps and watery eyes.

If you haven’t heard the song I truly encourage you to grab a Kleenex, and give a listen to the song (I’ve provided you the link below):

Lyrics:

“Sir I wanna buy these shoes for my Momma please
It’s Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry Sir?
Daddy says there’s not much time
You see, she’s been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes will make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful
If Momma meets Jesus, tonight.”

Base: two coats of Essence Got a Secret

Stamp: BundleMonster plate BM15 and China Glaze Millenium as well as Konad plate m77 with Sally Hansen Whirlwind White

(for the shoes I used Konad plate m9 and Wet n’ Wild Ebony Hates Chris)

Top: Seche Vite

Have you heard this song, “Christmas Shoes”, before? What do you think of my interpretation of it?

Beautiful manicure! I can’t listen to that song, it puts a lump in my throat every time…

    • marta

@Anutka :D Yes! It sure does leave that sad feeling lump in the throat and yet I listen to it at least once per year… just to fully appreciate what we have – our health and each other :D
      thank you!

  • http://wackylaki.blogspot.com Anutka

P.S. I just tagged you with a Nail Art Friendly Blog Award! :D

That song is so beautiful!!!! Girl, what are you trying to do to me? I almost started balling! Great song!
    The Mani is gorgeous!!!

    • marta

@MariJo Thank you! I did place a ‘grab a kleenex’ warning ;) I’m glad you liked this post. It has a special place in my heart because of this song and I’m glad it is touching to you Ladies as well :D

  • http://NailsInNippon.blogspot.com Tera

Beautiful song and beautiful mani to go along with it! I love the color you chose!

    • marta

@Tera :D Thank you! I don’t wear greys a lot because they tend to give me lobster hands but this one appeared to be ok against my skin tone :D That = a very happy me :D

  • Trisha

Really pretty mani, I love the stamping

    • marta

@Trisha I’m just slowly venturing into double stamping… that is a whole new world in an of its own! lol

  • http://moonchild666.blogspot.com Nuša

Don’t know the song, but I love the design! It looks so modern with all those minimalistic colors and the stamp is gorgeous! Those little shoes on your thumb just at that little sweet cherry on the top :D

    • marta

@Nusa :D I hope that the video link worked on your computer so you can give it a listen one day ;) :D
I’m glad you like this colour combo: minimalistic and it also had that warm/cold feeling to it which is what I was quite pleased with

  • http://www.swatchandlearn.com Swatch And Learn

Great interpretation of the song. Christmas Shoes always makes me tear up, too. And I think it was a great choice instead of going for the obvious, more popular Christmas carols.

Another original manicure win, Marta! :D

    • marta

@SwatchAndLearn Thank you Mary! I know that this Christmas season WILL be filled with joy and laughter for you, but I also will be thinking of you during this season because I know sometimes Christmas is a time of reflection (and remembering) for you!
I’m glad you liked my interpretation. :D xoxoxox

  • http://www.fingerspolishmania.com Fingers

I really love this-I love the grey against the silver-so cool!

    • marta

@Fingers :D Thank you! A lot of grey’s a a cold shade… this one had a weird warm feeling to it… i quite liked how it got colder with the silver but warmer with the white (if that makes sense… maybe it is just me reading too much into the song and wanting my manicure to portray some feeling).

  • http://onaturnail.blogspot.com Tressa

brilliant!!! love that song, always so touching!!

    • marta

@Tressa I’m sooo happy that you like my interpretation and it is so nice to see that people are familiar with this tune and that it is able to touch those who listen to it :D

  • http://blogerettejoelle.blogspot.com Blogerettejoelle

I got tears while listening to this song! Never heard of it before…

And your mani? I love it!

    • marta

@Blogerettejoelle Aww * hands you kleenex * The song isn’t too popular (the radio plays it every now and then) so I didn’t know if you Ladies would have heard of it before. I’m glad that you are not familiar with it, and I hope that it will hold a special place in your heart, as it does in mine.
I’m so glad you like the manicure! :D Without the shoes it would make quite a striking day-to-day manicure me-thinks :D

  • Kara

These look so delicate. This looks beautiful.

    • marta

      @Kara Thank you! xxx

  • Melanie

Oh dear Marta! Both the song and the movie turn me into a weepy Christmas sap! I have yet to see the movie this season, but every time I do, I have to have a tissue box next to me.
The manicure is so pretty too, I have always been a fan of purply-gray shades. :)

  • http://aphroditesnotebook.blogspot.com Theia

I love this soo much! so cute and the silver on top of the grey is a cute choice!!

    Happy Holidays!!

  • Monica

wow. I love these. so classy. great mani!

    • marta

@Monica :D thank you! I’m glad you like it! :D

  • http://polishedindulgence.blogspot.com Carmela

Wow, I definitely needed some Kleenex. It instantly reminded me of my cousin who’ll be spending her first Christmas without her mom who passed earlier this year. She’s an only child, and my mom and her sister were very close so we’re practically more sisters than cousins. Definitely stuck a chord with me and it’s the first time I’ve heard it!

I loved your interpretation. The feathers were such a lovely touch!

    • marta

@Carmela Oh I’m sorry to hear about your cousin. Death really frightens me… I try not to think about it too much because my mind wanders and I have questions that can’t be answered. I feel for your cousin (and the whole family- death of a loved one affects so many people).
I am happy that I was able to introduce you to a new song (and I hope that it’s sweetness leaves a happier mood)
      Thank you!

  • http://sneakerette.blogspot.com Eileen

This has got to be one of my favorite manis from you! The silvers look breathtaking! I wish I was better at konading so i could incorporate it into my designs!

    • marta

@Eileen Wow! I’m glad you liked this sooo much :D
Konading just takes some patience and practice. I’ve heard ladies practice their konading on an old manicure (right before they take off the old polish… the stamp various images to try… then remove the whole manicure).
