Happy Monday Lovely Ladies!!!
I hope you are starting off the week on a good note, because I sure am!!!
Despite the fact that I worked the morning shift this weekend I also had a lot of time to relax with family. Yesterday Peter whisked us all away to the beach! He wanted to do something special for me for Mother’s Day and so he made a delicious meal on the BBQ, packed it all up nicely, loaded our three kids into the car, and drove to a nearby beach. Though it was still a little too cold to go swimming, we relaxed as a family, enjoyed the fresh air, the sound of the water and the soft beach sand… This truly was one of my best Mothers Days to date!
Though I’m still grinning from ear to ear from yesterday’s mini-getaway, I will most certainly be partaking in the Monday Blues!
The Monday Nail Blues that is

I used a few shades to create this look, and I guess you could say that this is my very first “sandwich” experiment; I’m new at layering shades over-top of one another

I started out with essence Midnight Date which was sent to me by Bregje !!! Bregje recently sent me an awesome package packed full of Catrice shades, and this little essence treasure was amongst all the pretties!!! Midnight Date is a gorgeous deep shimmery one coat blue. I regret not taking step by step photos (I was in such a hurry to ‘sample’ my finished layering sandwich that I forgot to relish in the little steps). However, sweet Bregje did take some lovely photos on her blog, and I encourage you to check out her blog, show your support, and admire her swatches of this dual polish HERE.

I then used one coat of OPI Servin Up Sparkle followed by two thin coats of the flakie portion of this dual essence nail polish called City That Never Sleeps. The OPI glitter was still quite ‘dominant’ in this manicure and I decided to try one more layer of polish to tone it down a little. I used the much-raved about (for great reason!!!!) Max Factor Fantasy Fire which Joanne sent me in a swap package
One coat of Seche Vite completes this look.

So there you have it.. my very first glitter layering experiment/glitter-flakie sandwich. This one was quite tricky to photograph, and I kind of wish I had omitted the OPI glitter from this look but … you live and learn right!?
If you are wearing blue today don’t forget to Tweet your manicure under hashtag #MondayNailBlues.
If you are feeling the REAL Monday blues, allow me to share this silly YouTube video that my brother showed me a while back! It is so ‘odd’ and yet makes me laugh each and every time… not to mention I hum this tune through the day (and so might you, so beware
).
Have you tried a glitter/flakie sandwich? Any tips you’d like to pass on to me, a novice?
THANK YOU FOR READING!
