Yummy Mojito Madness

Author: marta  //  Category: Catrice, China Glaze, Essie, Mash, Soulstice Spa

We are mid-way through the week already, eh!?

It is the third Wednesday of this month which means that I will be at my Book Club meeting this afternoon.  We will be reviewing “Love in the Time of Cholera” by Gabriel García Márquez.  Anyone read it?

But, I know this isn’t a blog dedicated to reading/reviewing books so I won’t dilly-dally much longer ;)

Today I would like to show you a manicure “from the vault”, but one that I wore just a few weeks back when I first bought Essie Mojito Madness.

Mojito Madness is this perfectly creamy, not too overpoweringly (that is a word now ;) ) bright green.  I don’t normally sing-the-praises of greens so I am kind of at a loss for words to describe this green, aside from “PRETTY!”

I really feel like this is a trendy and wearable green, and the two coat application is a treat from this Essie shade.

For the accent nail I used two coats of Soulstice Spa Venice with one coat of Catrice Million Dollar Baby.

I also stamped the thumb using China Glaze Passion and Mash-41.

I can’t believe I’m sporting (and enjoying so much green recently)!!!  It all started with Cult Nails Fellin’ Froggy… I have a feeling I’m under the green spell ;)

Was there a shade you said to yourself you’d never wear, and then it won you over?

Is there a shade you still will NOT wear?

Do you own Mojito Madness?  Thoughts?

THANK YOU FOR READING!

Love the accent nails! I never used to like greens, but I’ve picked up a few recently and am really enjoying them :) I think I got lucky with my bottle of Mojito Madness because mine is a one-coater, all the more reason to love it!

      Hi Emma Clare,
Yaay to new-found loves for greens… and with accent nails some of the attention can be shared with a more ‘wearable’ shade too.
The formula, on this one, I agree is very very good and pigmented :D

Mojito Madness and Bikini so Teeny were my favorites from that collection. I don’t own them because I don’t think they sell them here, but even if they do, brands like Essie, Zoya, OPI, Butter London are SO much pricier here than usual! But I do enjoy looking at swatches, especially by my fav bloggers (includes you, obviously!)

I love how you used the same combo as on the bracelet (intentionally, I suppose?!). I often Google the color I wish to wear and then browse trough images to get inspired for the color combo :)

It’s not so much as a shade, but finish. I never liked jelly finishes, but now I’m constantly thinking about the manis to sport them! And frosty finish, I still hate that. But I guess I’m not the only one here. :)

      Hi Nusa,
I used to only have a handful of essie shades and my collection has nearly tripled with the new pretty colors they have come out with. But I agree, even here they are pricey at 9.99/bottle canadian.
Oh I match on purpuse… it stops the nervous twitch of NEEDING to match everything ;) lol
The bracelet was new and I did want to wear it a few days so I matched the gold tones ;)

I only make rare exceptions to jelly finishes AND I agree… frosted finishes (the strong frosted looks) are NOT my cup of tea.

This green is amazing! I need this in my life along with Bikini So Teeny. It definitely looks amazing on you and you have to wear more green! I’m usually like that with warmer colors like red. I rarely wear any. And I never wear gold or orange. Just too warm for my skin tone.
On a side note, Garcia Marquez is one of my favorite writers! I think Love in the times of cholera was the first book I read by him. It was such a long time and I should read it again because it’s amazing.

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      Hi Mihaela,
Aww thank you!!! I will encourage you to get those two shades because they really are pretty and have a lovely finish to them. With Cult Nails “Deal with IT” I will definitely be wearing more green.
I wear reds rarely too, not because I don’t like them… but they are so ‘serious’ ;) I too find orange to pull off same with some golds.
I have been hearing nothing but good things about this book and author… I could see myself re-reading this one down the road

Awesome look Marta, I love that your “biker style” bracelet is bright green instead of black, WAAAY more wearable IMO. Def fond of this shade too. Green continually comes in and out of favour with me, but I always like it (unlike colours like purple and blue, which I always seem to love!). Not a shade but, I don’t wear alot of metallics I am just not crazy about them.

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      Hi Karen,
I got it on sale for 2.99 (I have an orange one also)
I’m not too keen on metallic and frosted shades either ;)

Marta – Like you, I’m not a green fan, but I was pleasantly surprised by Mojito Madness! I own it and actually like it best of all my greens (the mere three I own!). I haven’t read “Love in the Time of Cholera” but I adore reading and am always on the lookout for a good book – is it worth reading? I just started reading “The Night Circus” and it’s pretty good so far!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      Hi Ashley,
LOL… our green stashes are about the same size ;) The finish is pure creamy perfection and the green is such a trendy shade right!? ;)
It is an interesting book about love in the late 1800 early 1900… what it endures, what love looks like in the society, etc. I quite liked it! The Author is well redound and quite liked by many ;)
I will add “night Circus” to my reads ;) Are you on Goodreads.com?

      • http://www.passionforpolish.com/ Ashley

Yep, definitely on Goodreads! Just friended you! :)

I thought I wouldn’t ever be a green fan, but I am completely in love with it now!!! I have been wearing so much green lately it’s ridiculous! :)

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      Hi Stephanie,
What is this blogging world doing to us right!? ;)
      High five to green ;)

    Hi Julianna Katalin Dornyei,
It is quite nice to match green/teals with gold. I think they work nicely together :D

    • Julianna Katalin Dörnyei

Indeed, it is a favourite combo of mine. :-)

    Hi Morgane Rauscher-Borne,
YOU ECHO WHAT I FEEL EXACTLY… I’m speaking louder because I’m excited about this green and all the love everyone has for it :D
Yeah, yellow is a TRICKY shade!!! We found that out the hard way when we once painted our living room yellow (four attempts and we still weren’t fully happy with it ;) )

    • http://www.facebook.com/morgane.rauscherborne Morgane Rauscher-Borne

      Bad yellow…! lol
      But I don’t give up : I’ll find my yellow ! :p

  • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

    Hi Carolina,
It is interesting how some things pull at us and we learn to like them :D Creams are my favourite finish but I love adding glitter to them to spruce them up a little ;)

  • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

    Hi Halifax,
YOU NEED BOTH ;) buuut, this one definitely has a MUCH nicer formula… T&C is a 3-4 coater at minimum!
Awww… I got ONE orange one as well… but it was a last one… thanks for letting me know about the sale

  • Liz

I love the accessories you use to compliment your manicures. I think it helps with getting the exact shade the color is even if it photographs weird. And i’m not a huge fan of orange polishes, but i just recently bought sun kissed from SH xtreme wear line and I love it.

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      Hi Liz,
Thank you! My other obsessive hobby is costume jewelry, so sometimes it is fun to dive in and check if anything “fits’ the look ;)
I don’t wear oranges often either, but I will agree that that SH is a pretty one ;)

  • emlangille

I love this. You definitely need more greens, your nail wheel is lonely ;)

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      Hi emlangille,
LOL, yes… that green nail wheel is quite ‘sparse’ to say the least

  • GosiaB

oooh I love this AND I could pull a monkey on you and wear this to work!!! awesome awesome!!!!
This green is really nice, not “too in your face”… but I still can’t make myself wear bright greens, like neons or that new Cult Nails… maybe they would look good, I don’t know.. and who knows, when I first started I would never wear anything but nudes and now look at me!! so gimme another month or two and I’ll crawl from underneath my rock haha =))

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      Hi Gosia,
The creamy finish of this one makes it sooo wearable! I can’t get enough!
And the Cult Nails one is so vibrant with the gold shimmer… That is another favourite of mine…slowly opening my horizons.
I never would have thought that I’d wear blue on my nails, and now that is my favourite shade… so it takes time to see what ‘fits’ your style ;)

  • coraline humbert

gold and green! so perfect ! It makes that Essie look sweeter I think!
And tell me how do you do? You always have jewels which are perfect with your nails !

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      Hi Coraline Humbert,
Sometimes when a shade is a little out of my comfort zone (as greens are) it is nice to pair them with a more ‘friendly’ shade… to give my eyes a break and my mind some encouragement ;) :D As per the jewelry, I love collecting costume jewelry… so I am happy to pull it out and use it in a photo if it works well :D Glad you like it AND I have noticed that you do some pretty lovely jewelry matches as well ;)

  • http://nailartaddictions.blogspot.com/ Nailart-Addict

Oh that’s a great combo for Mojito. I just bought her and her sis Bikini So Teeny last week. Really really need to play with them. Oh my I wish I had some more time to play. ;-) )
    PS. I love your bracelet.

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      Hi Nailart-Addict,
Those are the two shades that I picked up from this collection :D
With so many pretties out there it is so hard to pick a shade and have time to enjoy it :D
Thank you. I bought the bracelent at the Bay when it was on sale for 2.99
