OPI Germany Collection for Fall/Winter 2012

Author: marta  //  Category: OPI

I don’t know about you, but I am definitely starting to feel like the summer is coming to an end.  With the Fall/Winter season approaching, I won’t lie, I am getting excited about wearing some darker/dustier/vampy shades.

AND… what better way to prep may nails for the Fall season than with the NEW OPI Germany Collection!! ;)

I would like to share swatches of my six picks from this collection with you today.  I will also be showcasing each shade individually (with some nailart) within the next few weeks so I hope you stay tuned for that ;)

(swatches are of TWO coats for each color with Essie Good To Go topcoat)

Don’t Pretzel My Buttons is described by OPI as: “a haute honey-beige that can always make you smile”

This is such a FANTASTIC NUDE! You know I’m a sucker for nude-toned shades, and I’m always on a hunt for a great palate-cleanser.  I like how this leans honey-toned and almost peachy.  In fact, I think this shade matches my skin tone so precisely that this might just be my mannequin-hands polish, but rather than be turned off by this I ADORE this shade to pretzel-crumb-bits! ;)

I will also mention that Pretzels are my favourite snack (aside from chocolate)… and chocolate covered pretzels are a combo made in heaven… LOVE love love this shade!

Berlin There Done That is described by OPI as: “A traveling taupe that’s seen it all. (Yep, that too)”

I normally gravitate towards taupe shades, I like how sophisticated they look, so it is no surprise that I love this one.  It is a tad lighter than China Glaze Below Deck and this is one of the reasons that has me smitten.

The second reason, and it is a personal one, is that my family and I moved to Berlin Germany when I was five, and we lived there until I was 9.5 years old.  I witnessed the Berlin wall being torn down, I spoke fluent German and I have many fond memories from my childhood there.  The name of this polish is just the icing on this gorgous-shade-cake ;)

Don’t Talk Bach to Me is described by OPI as: “There’s nothing mellow about this sassy lime-yellow!”

This polish took me by surprise; I think this one is the trendsetting and unique polish in this OPI Germany collection.  I would describe the color more as a pistachio-ice-cream light shade.  I really fancy this one.  It is soft enough to be work appropriate (it is almost a nude shade) with this gorgeous soft pearly shimmer.  Gosh, this one is so beautiful!  I have NOTHING like this shade in my collection :D

Danke-Shiny Red is described by OPI as: “You ‘bitte’ try on this ravishing ruby before it’s too late”

For those of you who do not speak German, this polish is named with a play on words: “danke schön” is German for thank you very much.  What a pleasant name for a vibrant and sexey ruby red polish with a shimmery finish.

Though the color on this one is not the most original, I will say that I LOVE the wide OPI brushes (perfect for my wider nailbeds) and the formula in this one is a pure pleasure to apply.

Deutsche You Want Me Baby is described by OPI as: “A self-assured shade of shimmering red-orange”:

Orange shades are typically not ones I wear very often, nor do I own all too many of them.  This one however, is such a neat burnt-orange (borderline red) that I am quite comfortable with it on my nails! Ha! Orange on my nails! :D Or in German/Deutsch “Orange auf meiner Fingernägel!” ;)

* * * * *

AND last but not least is …

Every Month is Oktoberfest which is described by OPI as: “Prost! Here’s to the prettiest plum in the Biergarten!”:

I will just say that this is the WOW shade from this OPI Germany collection.  If you can only get one color from this collection, make sure it is this one ;)

The polish does look different in the bottle than it does on the nail.  I was also surprised that this polish has a deep navy-blue jelly based formula! Honestly!  After two coats however this polish has a deep burgundy plum base with the most gorgeous red shimmer reminiscent of the ever-so-famous Fantasy Fire

This polish is dark and intriguing.  Honestly, a must have in your vampy-shades collection.  ‘Nuff said ;)

  • Pink Pamalamma

Funny you should say that, because Oktoberfest IS the only one I bought! I almost got Germanicure also, but I’m super broke right now so just stuck with the one for now. I also really like the red, but I think if I decide I have to have that color, I will go with the Zoya one that is nearly the same color, since my nails are small and I have a hard time getting clean lines with OPI’s brush. I still think they should have done a shimmery brown in this collection called German Chocolate Cake! :)

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      Hi Pink Pamalamma,
I know what it is like to have to pick and choose shades to save the wallet ;) I am glad that there was room for the purchase of “Every Month is Oktoberfest” what a dynamic shade it is! ;)
oH wouldn’t a shimmery chocolate brown be divine ;) yuuum. Guten Appetit ;)

  • Shannon Beshara

Great picks! I only got two from this collection, so far, and you have now convinced me that I need to get at least a couple more. There goes my self-restraint. I’m starting to think it’s Marta-immune.
