Tweety & Sylvester

Hello Lovely Ladies,

If your childhood was anything like mine, you will recall with fondness the Saturday mornings, cozy in your pajamas, worry free, watching ‘classic’ cartoons.

Amongst the many cartoons that I enjoyed ‘in my youth’ ;) was the Warner Brothers “Tweety & Sylvester” series.

Thanks to Mei Mei’s Signatures I can take a trip down memory lane because Mei Mei has created TWO custom glitter nail polishes, by Daring Digits, inspired by Sylvester and Tweety!!!  I have the distinct privilege of sharing them here with you today:

EDIT: Sylvester & Tweety IS NOW officially released in a mini-duo set!   It is available EXCLUSIVELY through Mei Mei’s Sigantures for SGD15 per set of 2 mini bottles (which is approximately $11.99 Canadian).

Mei Mei’s Signatures custom Sylvester: is a clear base jelly polish with small white and black glitter, as well as metallic-red medium sized hex glitter and larger round black glitter.

(one coat of Sylvester over China Glaze Pelican Gray)

While Sylvester – the cartoon character – was most often the antagonist in the series (having me root for sweet Tweety Bird), as a polish, Sylvester is my favorite of the two :D   The large and small glitter reflect the proud, and yet comical, character of this feline so well.

I chose to spruce this manicure up a little by adding some accent-nail detail with metallic-red striping tape and black and white polish:

Fun Fact: did you know that Sylvester’s lisp was  mimicked off of Daffy Duck, and “conventional wisdom is that Daffy’s lisp, and hence also Sylvester’s, were based on the lisp of producer Leon Schlesinger” (source).  Can you recall Sylvester’s most popular phrase?

It was: “”Sufferin’ succotash!”

I really enjoy the colors in Sylvester, the matte large glitter juxtaposed with red metallic glitter is a lovely combination.

Now onto Tweety :D

Mei Mei’s Signatures custom Tweety is a clear jelly based polish with fine matte-blue glitter, small/medium metallic warm-gold glitter and small-medium red glitter.

(base is two coats of Meghan Miller Latte, with OPI The It Color and essence Wanna Be Your Sunshine saran wrapped on)

The glitter in Tweety is more delicate (in comparison to Sylvester), quite fitting for the baby-like canary, Tweety Bird.  I really love the addition of the fine blue glitter which makes me think of Tweety’s large blue innocent eyes (under those looong lashes).

Fun Fact: did you know that Tweety Bird was actually a MALE character!? (source)

I added some feather stamping, because Tweety bird was always chased as the tasty treat:

I used Konad plate m77 and stamped using Cult Nails Evil Queen, Konad Yellow, and Essie Good As Gold.

Daring Digits Sylvester & Tweety are NOW available on the Mei Mei’s Signatures Website after the first week of October 2012 (so make sure you check out her website if you are interested in snatching this duo-set).

What was your favorite cartoon when you were young?

Do you like it when nail polish is created/named after TV shows, books, series etc?  Has that ever been a selling factor for you? A deterrent?

Do you have a favorite of these two glitter lacquers?

THANK YOU FOR READING!

I love the yellow one ! :D And the first on too in fact ! x) I love Tom&Jerry but there is no polish on it. ^^ But it is interesting to see a polishes collection inspired from a film, book, cartoon… :) Even if I think it is a way to sell more products. ^^

Oh I remember Tom and Jerry as well :D Those would make some cute shades too ;) It is definitely a gimmick to sell polish, but for those who are ‘fans’ of the source of inspiration it is a neat way to carry on with the hobby :D

I love Sylvester so much since my childhood. I have a black&white cat at home. They are the cutest for me :) And yes I like the sylvester polish more than the yellow one…

The round glitter bits in Sylvester are SO COOL! So very unique, I love both of them, but I think I the round glitter makes Sylvester it a winner for me!

These polishes look like so much fun to wear! :) And you wore them well!

Yes, I loved many of the 80s cartoons like Inspector Gadget, Care Bears, and Rainbow Brite. Also really loved Transfomers, G.I. Joe, Jem, and Astro Boy. *Sigh* All the nostalgia! There aren’t epic cartoons for kids like those anymore…

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Thank you, I am embracing the glitter polishes. I sometimes feel a little overwhelmed because the layering options are so many I get a brain-freeze on how to wear them.
Oh… go go gadget arms ;) Looooved inspector gadget *hums tune* and care bears… the original. It is funny because the new series is HIGHLY digitized (losing the charm). That is what my little girls watch, and when I played an old episode they said “this isn’t the real care bears… these must be new, different. We like the old ones better”… (sigh)

The idea behind these polishes is awesome! They both look great, but Tweety deserves an additional ‘WOW’. And I love how you added little feathers, so clever!!
P.S.: get ready to have your stash raided by an unknown fan from Slovenia ;)
