Pink October

Author: marta  //  Category: BundleMonster, China Glaze, SueSa

We all know that this October is Cult Nails month ;) (with giveaways on all social networks, and even a SUPER SALE starting as this post airs).

We also know that October is the month of Halloween and there are awesome contest, like the Bundle Monster one that needs your creative entries ;)

On a serious note however… with all FUN nail-events aside for a moment… October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), also referred to in America as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM); it “is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. The campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer” (source Wikipedia).

Pink ribbons symbolize our support and our want/need to find a cure.  Pink manicures have been popping up everywhere to increase awareness.  We are mid October and I am just chiming in… (better late than never?)…

The nail-polish enthusiast community is made up of (mostly) ladies, and whether we have been affected by breast cancer personally, know somebody who has been touched by this disease, or are healthy and counting our blessings, it is important that we continue to stay educated on this disease, do regular checkups, and if possible donate to find a cure.

To create this pink-manicure I applied two coat of China Glaze IV (an oldie but goodie).  IV is a soft cream pink (borderline, but just not quite, coral).  I painted half of my nails with a sheer silver glass-fleck polish and stamped over that with Bundle Monster plate BM-318.  I then added a few silver dots using SueSa Nail Polish – S02.

I hope you like this soft and delicate manicure in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I’m using all of my pink untrieds this month on my blog. I’m on pink polish overload now. I only have a few left, and I’m actually glad. ;) I like that the pink you’re featuring today isn’t a plain ol’ pink.

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

That is an awesome way to go through your untrieds :D NEATO.
      Thank you

  • Christine

I love it <3 and I am worse, I still have a pink mani on my to-do list (though I am no way close to your skills) and I also still need to do a green one for depression awareness as well!!!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

The month is still young :)
I think all support manicures are amazing because they come from the heart (regardless of skill level) ;)

Thank you for sharing your link :D
I have to say, that I have been fortunate enough not to know anyone affected by this disease, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t think about all the lives that it touches. Here is to hoping and raising awareness to put an end to it ;)

What a lovely feminine mani! It’s really nice to see something non-ribbony and full of hearts for a change! Also, I like this shade of pink, looks amazing on you. Silver dots complete the look perfectly ;)

This is so beautiful! Great job, and way to raise awareness! I did the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk in 2009 and 2010 and it was so amazing to see all the strong women who had beaten breast cancer!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Wow, that sounds like quite the experience.
I hope to do that when my girls are a little older to either join me or to be easier to handle when I partake in such events. :D

This is lovely handiwork! Goes to show it doesn’t have to be all crazy Nicky Minaj colours – girly and soft can still be fabulous nail art!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Wow, thank you for such a lovely compliment :D
I think some looks are lovely, fun and vibrant, but it is okay to show support in a more subtle (less direct way) also :)
Really glad you like this look. Thank you!
