Layla Coffee Love!

Author: marta  //  Category: Layla

Hello Lovely Ladies,

This past Thursday we had some really warm weather (I did some major garden cleanup), but it was also very bright and sunny… and to a nail-polish enthusiast bright and sunny = holographic polish!

Would you believe that Layla Coffee Love was still in my untrieds pile!?!?

A big thanks to Katie from Harlow & Co who sent this beauty my way!  Katie knows how huge a coffee fan I am… now I can drink it (not the polish silly, real java! ;) ) AND wear it on my nails!

I applied two smooth coats of Layla Coffee Love over one coat of the FNUG holographic aqua fix base coat.  This special basecoat truly truly improves the application of holographic polish.  No more dragging and bald-spots.  A MUST HAVE IMO!

In the shade Coffee Love is a warm brown, leaning plum, polish.  It is definitely a wearable brown with the typical holographic metallic sheen to it.  Real pretty both in the shade AND in direct sunlight ;)

Check out the SUPER STRONG LINEAR HOLO in the sunlight! ;)

Harlow & Co is definitely stocking up on some really amazing brands and is definitely carrying a LOT of great holographic polishes ;)

Do you reach for holographic shades when it is sunny?

Do you like light or dark holographic shades better?

Are you a fan of coffee as much as I am?

THANK YOU FOR READING!

Oooo .. I am a majour coffee lover too, will need to get this shade ASAP ! Looks fantastic on your nails… WOW !

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

I know you will LOVE IT!
Dark, vampy, warm: like a cup of java filled with rainbows ;)

  • Christine Steiner

Absolutely stunning, this just hopped on to my list of Must-havel ;-) . I join the band with regard to Fnug’s Aqua Base Coat, it makes a world’s difference. Being Swiis, living in Switzerland I am a true fan of coffee in general and Nespreßo in particular :-) )). I have a holo-question: have you experienced easier chipping with them? Do you ever use Top Coat with them? And if so which ones would you recommend? Thank you so much in advance for any advice <3

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

I am glad that you agree. Applying holos without an aqua base is tricky even for the most skilled polish enthusiast. The basecoat is so helpful.
I do find that holos show tipwear quicker than a dense glitter or a cream, BUT with the aqua base and NO topcoat I get two full days before tipwear shows… by then I am ready for a change anyways. I have been given a sallies topcoat that doesn’t dull the holo effect as much (essie good to go is okay also), but most topcoats WILL dull the holo effect significantly :( I therefore do NOT apply a topcoat

  • Christine Steiner

Sorry for the typo of course I am Swiss not Swiis – despite the reputation of us being a bit slow ;-) ))

LOL, love your sense of humour. I never heard of that connection ;)

O.O my eyes just popped out I think because of all the awesomeness.

WoOOOOOOOOOOW ! This is a so BEAUTIFUL holographic polish !!!! :D

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Isn’t it fun! As is the name :)

  • coraline humbert

wooow! The holo effect is pretty cool! But what i really like is the color, it’s not usual to see a holo like this one!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

The holo is stronger IRL than on my photos… I still struggle to capture it properly.

Most of the holos in my collection are ‘light’ base ;)

  • Kripa K

I love coffee and I love holo. This is perfect!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      Perfect combo right!? Thanks :D

  • Jamie Willett

Wow, this is gorgeous!! Coffee and polish are two of my favorite things, so this one obviously just went on my wish list! Sooooo pretty!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Isn’t it nice when two likes combine? The name is definitely a bonus for me ;)

This is so pretty! I really want this and a couple of the new Layla’s.

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

I hope you do get your hands on some of these soon :D

That holo looks spectacular – love how you can see a rainbow on your nails. And, as always, you have superb photos that look very professional. :) (Actually, just on Friday, I was showing your blog to one of my co-workers. She agreed that you have lovely pictures!)

I only like drinking coffee if it has sugar and is sweet…or if it’s a latte like the Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. If it’s just straight coffee, I don’t care for it, but I love the smell.

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Yes, there definitely are full linear rainbows on the nail. A rainbow coffee ;)
Thank you so much for your continued kind words AND now for sharing my blog with someone. That is such an honor.
I don’t need the sugar in my coffee but I DO need milk/cream.
I also looove the smell of coffee. When we go to our cottage (annually) we set the coffeemaker to start before we wake so we can awaken to the smell of java (like in the Folgers commercials ;) lol)

This is SO gorgeous Marta, I just picked up this one, Misty and Cloudy. I’m definitely going to get that holo base coat from Harlow & Co. soon. I don’t like not wearing a base coat and I’m completely convinced this base coat is needed! Gorgeous photos as always babe!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Gosh, what a treat when you leave a comment on my blog :D HONESTLY
I held off on the basecoat, but it truly makes application painless and lovely… worth investing in one.
      Thank you SO much

Oh wow! This is so pretty! I didn’t think I needed this one if I got a couple of the others, but seeing it here makes me want it >_<

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

It is a really pretty warm brown (wearable because of the plum tint to it- ever so slight).

  • http://twitter.com/lacquerlad Fitzy

D: I didn’t know this existed! I looooove the layla holos but I had no idea there was a brown shade. It’s beautiful! I’m super jealous.

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

It is a recently new release from the Layla collection so you could have overlooked it ;)
I hope you get your hands on it soon :D

  • http://www.susyincolor.com/ Susy

This is gorgeous! I just got this one and I love the name and color! I’m the same way, when it’s sunny it means holographic polish! :)

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Doesn’t the name make the polish even better ;) ?
      Nice! Great minds think alike

  • http://glittericity.blogspot.com/ Amanda | Glittericity

That’s so pretty! I have a couple of the Laylas but never saw this one :o I’m a coffee addict too–must acquire this! x

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

I won’t say it is the newest shade in the Layla collection but VERY recently released :D

  • Suzanne O’Connor

    On my wish list.

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

It is a lovely darker holo (oddly, most of the holos I own are light/silver) so this is a treat

  • Kitty

Beautiful shade on stunning nails as usual! I love it!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      Thank you :D

  • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Thank you, it is a lovely linear holo

  • http://nailartaddictions.blogspot.com/ Nailart-Addict

    Oh my sooo gorgeous!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      :D It is a lovely warm/dark holo

  • http://moonchild666.blogspot.com/ Nuša Pavlič

    Ahhhh, eyegasm ;)

Surprisingly, this polish color ACTUALLY looks like coffee! Yum! Even tho I’m not a big coffee fan (TEA <3), I like the concept of coffee, lol. I love saying "Do you want to go for a cup of coffee with me?" and then we end up having tea of juice or any other childish beverages :D (But in my defense: sweet things make me sick – literary – and I hate the taste of pure coffee :D ). Enough with the poetry stuff.

How's the weather these days in Canada? We have major amounts of snow in Slovenia and the power went out for the whole Sunday and half of today also -.-

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

I too associate coffee with ‘adults’. My parents drank coffee and I (I know this is odd) like the smell of coffee (even on one’s breath- not in a weirdo way… I know this sounds odd). *hangs head*
I think we think of coffee as more ‘mature’ because children can also drink tea (decaffinated)… I make it for my children all the time- coffee is a mommy-only thing ;)

      You have SNOW!!!? Wow!
We have rain and really STRONG winds! We are on the outskirts of Sandy… so very VERY windy! trees bending and swaying… scarry really… blowing at over 80 km / hour here

    Oh sigh on my wishlist!!!!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

I hope you can quickly move this shade from “wish list” to “stash” ;)
