Halloween Manicure

Author: marta  //  Category: Beautiful Scratchers, BundleMonster, China Glaze, Cult Nails, Revlon

Hello Lovely Ladies,

I know that Halloween is not until tomorrow…

… but I wanted to post my Halloween manicure today, just in case some of you are looking for an idea.  My manicure is hugely inspired by two fellow bloggers, so maybe you too can take something from this look which will spark  your very own creative idea.

There was NO way I was NOT going to use Cult Nails Deal With It for this look!  That was my foundation, and it just flew from there. In fact, thanks to Maria from Cult Nails, my manicure was featured in MyStyle’s Halloween Nail Trends 2012!

Can you tell I’m more into the cutesy-spooky rather than the gory-spooky?! (I cannot stomach the sight or suggestion of blood and gore- yes, I am the one with both hands covering my eyes during a movie/TV series etc.  I don’t even peek through my fingers lol).  Last year’s Frankenstein manicure was also more cutesy than scarry ;)

* * *

I had two MAJOR sources of inspiration and full credit needs to be given to these talented Ladies:

Anutka from Wacky Laki gave me the idea of adding gems to the spiders (to make them more 3D) and for the french-tip spiderweb idea

Carolina from Colores de Carol did THIS spider manicure (which inspired my wandering spider)

To create this look I sponged my bare nails with the very opaque Revlon Sassy first, followed by Deal With It.  I stamped the spiderwebs with BM-13 using Borghese Brunello Grape.  The spiders are from plate T29.

The ring finger is one coat of Wet n’ Wild Club Havannah with China Glaze Street Racing saran wrapped onto it.  The pumpkin face stamp came from plate D03.

Are you into the Halloween ‘festivities’?

I know that Halloween is very popular in Canada… much less so in Poland.  Does your country make a big deal of this day?

When it comes to Halloween, do you like the blood and gore… or the cutesy opportunity to dress up?

Any costume ideas?

THANK YOU FOR READING!

PS.  You will WANT to tune in tomorrow for a BUNDLE (hint hint hint) of a treat opportunity tomorrow ;)

Ooo ! I LOVE this ! I’m also a more cutesy halloween person than the blood and gore . So this mani is perfect, fun , yet Halloween appriopriate. And since my little guy is turning 3 next year, I dont go for scary at all.

I agree with you. With little kids around it is not so much sheltering them, but there really is not need to overexpose them to ‘gorry’. I bought my first ‘skull’ shirt the other day and did it only because the skull is made up of sequins and my 3 year old said it was ‘cute’ ;) *phew*

  • NailsbyCarol

Beautiful! I love Club Havana <3

I have already made Halloween nail art ^^ And I have so many ideas ! (I can’t do all the nail art I think of so I keep them in mind for next year ! ^^)

PS : I start to think about Christmas nails ! :p (With so much glitter !!! :D )

Have you seen the Ciaté advent calendar ? ^^

      • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

LOL… Yes, Christmas deserves an abundance of glitter ;)
        I haven’t seen the calendar… I will have to take a peek ;)

        • http://www.facebook.com/morgane.rauscherborne Morgane Rauscher-Borne

Life would suck without any glitter ! :o
I really want this calendar ! lol But I only can see photos for the moment… :( We are not sure it will come in France… But I really hope it will !

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Thank you for sharing about your Halloween customs… it is nice to hear that you will somehow create your own party ;) that is so fun.

It is hard when there are so many great ideas, and only one day to show them off on ;)

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Thank you. This green NEEDED to be a part of my Halloween manicure ;) Glad you like it

  • Kayla Angus

This is such a great Halloween look. I really enjoy the inclusion of the cult nails. I am with you on not wanting blood and gore on my nails, even tho I may enjoy the look on other people I dont want it on me :)
I love Halloween, but living in a condo building we dont get trick or treaters, they just have a station set up in the may lobby
Also, I really like the one spider off the nail…veryn cute extra touch!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

I have been quite impressed with the number of “gorry” nail photos this year and I too admire them for the skill… this was tamer for me ;)
Thank you for sharing a little about what Halloween looks like for you :D
Glad you like this look. Thank you :D

  • Jamie Willett

Oh my gosh, this is fab! I love the little spider temporary tattoo on your ring finger. So creative! I am definitely a fan of “cute” Halloween and not scary/gory Halloween. :)

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

I saw the wandering spiders on Carolina’s photo last year and I absolutely wanted to try it myself :D It seems to be a hit here too :D

  • Anya_WackyLaki

I absolutely love the runaway spider! Definitely adds the perfect touch. The colors are fantastic too. Congratulations on the MyStyle feature! :)

P.S. I’m into the cutesy Halloween too. I refuse to watch scary movies and anything gross on TV and my head is buried in my bf’s shoulder :)

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Thank you for the inspiration. I loved seeing your manicure and I knew that I wanted to try something like it :D (I hope you don’t mind).
You and me sounds like we have the same scarry-movie watching patterns ;)

      • Anya_WackyLaki

Are you kidding me? Anytime! I’m always excited to see your take on it. :)

  • http://glittericity.blogspot.com/ Amanda | Glittericity

Ahh! That’s cute, but the “wandering” spider would FREAK ME THE **** OUT every time I looked at my hand. I hate spiders D: Love the colours you chose though–Deal With It is great!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

LOL. Here I am talking about a ‘cute’ halloween manicure, but I didn’t take into account that some people are scared/grossed out by spiders… sorry ;)
I have the same aversion to earwigs… those critters with their crispy shells have me in goosebumps at the sight of them

  • http://www.lovevarnish.com/ Deborah

Your ringfinger is so cute and perfect! Love the pumpkin ♥.

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

:D thank you! He kind of sticks out because he is so different (or she I guess) ;)

  • katzekratz

Halloween is not a great thing in Germany. I bought chocolate today but I will eat it itself. Great manicure. I’ve seen those spiders with gems on You Tube and I will do it, too.

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

I know that it is predominantly an American thing. My family in Poland aren’t all that happy about Halloween, they solemnly celebrate All Saints/Souls day… whereas in Canada that is NOT done. Thank you for sharing :D
I hope you do try it… the spiders look much spookier with the gems

  • http://moonchild666.blogspot.com/ Nuša Pavlič

I’m SOOOO excited to start shopping online, just so I can get that plate and have a spider stamped on my finger next year too! No joke, I love it!

I love the whole mani, it’s so… *defined* compared to mine (comparing right now). I thought mine was funky but yours just tops it all off. Ugh I want your skills! (or at least plates, due to no Halloween plated I had to free hand my design)
I love cutesy Halloween designs, although I would say I prefer spooky on my nails matches my audience I guess. For the Halloween party tomorrow we’re going to a metal concert and I’d be scared to walk around with cute nails haha :D

Speaking of free handing. As soon as I get my Slovenian Twin Post behind me and I can find a hole in my school schedule, I’ll get back to you and we will free-hand that cheetah print like no one before ;) haha, JK. But seriously, I don’t want to rush anything and end up with a simply ‘OK’ result, as I did with our first colab ;)

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

The cat is now out of the bag… maybe you can enter the Bundle Monster contest and WIN a set of plates (with spiders) ;)
I love seeing the spooky on other people. This year I have seen a few designs that look like the nail is peeling/lifted off of the nail… and that freaks me right out ;)

Done deal… that twin post will happen (not because you need to redeem yourself in any way – you previous manicure was just fine ;) – but because we need to do this again). I’ll wait on your cue ;)

  • Kripa K

This is definitely a cute Halloween mani :-) I love the Deal with it tips. They look radioactive! (which I guess is the point) I did a very different Halloween mani myself. I actually referenced a couple of your posts in my post today!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

This shades truly does have that glowing (radioactive feel to it) :D
I will run to check it out ;) Thank you :D

  • Julie Rivard

So fun! I love that it’s bright and playful but very much so appropriate for Halloween :)

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Thank you. I kind of wanted to throw in purple somewhere into the mix, but couldn’t quite figure out how

  • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Looks like we agree. Thank you for your sweet comment ;)
