Movember Nails

Hello Lovely Ladies,

A while back I had shown you my mustache water decal manicure.  Since then I felt the urge to try some freehand mustache nails, and what better time to do it than MOVEMBER.

So here is my official ChitChat Nails ‘stash:

“During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of mustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.” (source).

My husband Peter supports this cause and has his mustache filling in quite nicely (if I may say so myself 😉 ), but I was really motivated by an email I got from Melissa from Missy’s Manis, and I knew that I had to post a mustache manicure at least once this month.  I encourage you to read Melissa’s personal story HERE!

I am horrible at freehand… totally horrible, but I am comforted by two things:

1. mustaches are all different and ‘odd’ so my not-so-even ‘stashes are simply a reflection of that 😉

2. I hope that, in this case, my good intentions and spirit will shine brighter than my skill level 😉

I applied three coats of Cult Nails Disciplined and used a dotting tool to draw on the mustache using Wet n’ Wild Black Creme.  I then added two black gemstones to the accent nail.

There are a number of ways that, as a woman, you can get involved in this cause and you can find more information through Mo Sistas.  Peter is also raising money and you can check out his Mo Space HERE 😉  Every little bit donated helps to find a cure for prostate and testicular cancer.

While I do not have any relatives (thankfully) who have been affected by this disease, I am fortunate to be surrounded by many healthy men (my father, my my brother, my brother-in-laws, and my grandfather, uncles and cousins back in Poland) who I hope will never have to deal with this disease.  Whenever I look at Peter’s mustache (and I’m not huge on facial hair), I count my blessings that he is healthy and hope that when my son gets older there will be a cure, and prostate cancer will no longer be a looming threat.

Have you sported a mustache manicure? (relevant links are welcome)

Are any males in your life growing a mustache in support of this cause?

This is awesomely well done Marta! I also support the cause and will post a Mo’nicure this month!

    • Yaay! Thank you! 😀

  • Such a good cause mani ! Will also post one on my blog a little later this month. Love the Cult Nails colour btw. My boyfriend was diagnosed 2years ago with prostate cancer, and was a huge shock. Luckily it was detected early enough, and with cemo and meds, he gotten the all clear this year ♥

    • Lynette, thank you so much for opening up about this to me. I really appreciate it. Your story is a true inspiration and gives hope. I really appreciate it.

  • Loving the Taches and that is a nice looking lump of stone you have their too (looks like mudstone from here) 😉 I did a mustache post last week here is the link 😀 It is a worthy cause !

    • Would you believe that I found this stone while on a day-trip to a local waterfall with Peter on our anniversary ! 😀 I had to bring it home… it serves as a bookweight now 😀
The link didn’t show up… but I will search it out 😉

  • Woooooow ! This cult nails polish is so beautifuuuuuul !! 😀 And your mustaches are so nice ! 😉

  • Look who’s back 😉

I need to tell you that I read your posts regularly, I just never take time to write a decent comment (a simple ‘I love this mani’ isn’t good enough for you :D).

Anyhow, you totally inspired me to create a mustache mani myself this Movember! Thank you for that 🙂 And when I post it, you can take another comfort in my my mani – my freehanding is way worse than yours 😉

    • Hi Nusa!!!
I totally miss your comments and then get very excited when I spot them again 😀 I can’t say this enough, I appreciate your thoughtful and sweet comments each time I read them. so thank YOU.

I found that the less I stressed about making them perfect, the better they kept turning out (not that they are good… but)… so just don’t pressure yourself when making them and you’ll love it 😉
You ARE a talented lady 😉

Amiga, this manicure is great, I did something similar for Movember nails.

    • Thank you 😀 I did spot your superbly holographic Movember look 😀 LOVE IT

  • These mustaches are perfect! Especially against that gorgeous basecolor.

    • Thank you! I like how soft the base is, against the manly stashes 😉

  • Melissa Andersen

I love it! Thank you so much for your wonderful mani and response! Rest assured–mustaches are weird in real life and yours are great! You always find such cool ways to include rhinestones in your art. I love that you are getting to support your husband and his Movember movement too! I hope you don’t mind if I add this to the gallery I started so that everyone can see it on my page and the others who participate–you’re such an awesome Sista!

    • Hi Melissa, Thank you for your sweet comment.

I was a little iffy on how the gems photographed but I wanted to add them (just because they ‘matched’). Please feel free to add this photo… I would have linked it, but I am afraid I am getting too old for this ‘modern technology’ and I was overwhelmed lol… Thank you for being such a lovely informative voice on this matter 😀

  • Irena

At first i thought you had stickers on…great job 🙂

    • Really! You are sooo nice to my ego- The mustaches are not perfect, but are real life mustaches perfect 😉 lol Now I don’t feel as bad about how they turned out if you thought they were decals 😉
