Snowflake Half-Moon

Hello Lovely Ladies,

I can’t believe that November is almost over and London Ontario has not seen any snow yet!? I know, I know, now that I’ve said it we will be hit with mounds of it… but honestly, where is the soft n’ fluffy white stuff?

I was invited to partake in Nail Polish Canada‘s three week Winter/Holiday Nail Art Challenge, and I had to accept!!!

I love that Nail Polish Canada keeps coming up with such fun, funny, and creative challenges and ‘events’ (you may recall their recent Adopt-a-Polish initiative).  Their spirit is contagious!!! How could I NOT join in on the fun!?

This Weeks, the topic for the challenge is “SNOW”…I wanted to create a wearable/chic snow-manicure:

* * *

To create this look I started with bare nails and sponged on Sally Hansen Whirlwind White; I dabbed on some OPI Funny Bunny and Inglot XL1.

I then stamped on the snowflake with Shany plate SH17 hoping to create a half-moon feel; I added some white pearl accents from the BornPrettyStore.

To be very honest, this Nail Polish Canada Challenge is filled with incredibly talented Ladies and fellow bloggers; being a part of such a talented group is reward enough, however a prize is also at stake ;)

Voting in this challenge will start on November 25th, I hope you check out the entries and vote for your favorite HERE.

I’m curious!  What country are YOU from and have you seen any snow yet this season?

Thoughts on this half-moon snowflake manicure?  Is it day-to-day wearable?

  • Aglaya

This mani looks awesome! I’m from Switzerland, and we had our first snow in october. But no snow since, at least not in the lower regions.

    • Marta

      *Waves to you in Switzerland*
Thank you for sharing :D Usually London Ontario sees a snowfall – like you mention- in mid October also… mother nature is taking her time this year ;)

  • Nailart-Addict

Oh my this is such a beautyful mani! Well this year whe have’nt seen any snow yet. But last year Winter came in already at half November and we had the Netherlands covered in snow from then till February.

    • Marta

I kind of ache for the snow, but you are right, once it comes it is here to stay for good – I don’t really like driving in snow :D
I’m glad you like this manicure

  • Lynette

LOVE this mani ! ♥ Looks so soft and delicate, really love the snow flake half moons !. I’m from South Africa, we have summer now so no snow . But we did have snow for the first time this year June , which NEVER happens. So my little guy could experience snow for the first time, and I could too . ♥

    • Marta

      South Africa!
How I love hearing where people read my blog from- it makes the world seem smaller/cozier doesn’t it.

How sweet of you to share the snow story- I bet it was quite an experience to see it for the first time- the large snowflakes are so pretty to look at :D
Thank you for your sweet comment

Wow, it is really lovely :-)

    • Marta

      Thank you Very much

  • Colorful Harmony

OMG this is just too cute! You are amazing with your manicures! =)

    • Marta

      Thank you SO VERY much

  • Kayla Angus

This is one of the best wearable snowflake designs I have seen. Very office appropriate and chic at the same time.
I’m from Kitchener so same as you just down the road. No snow yet.
Also I recived my giveaway prize yesterday. Thank you so much I am too excited for words to try out all the goodies!

    • Marta

THANK YOU! I am glad you are seeing this manicure the way I hoped it would be seen: day to day- even office appropriate.
Yaaay! I’m happy that you were the chosen winner and that the mini prize arrived safely. :D

  • maRyya

    adorable :)

    • Marta

      Thank you :D

  • lexissarah

This is a very unique snowflake mani. I love it! I would would wear it day to day. I live right across the border in Buffalo, NY. Nothing that I would really call snow has shown up yet, but after last year’s winter, I expect Mother Nature has some making up to do this year.

    • Marta

:D Thank you, I am glad you like this manicure.
      I feel your snow/mother-nature sentiment :D

  • Jamie Willett

This is such a beautiful mani! I love how you used the snowflake stamp as a half-moon! Simply gorgeous. :) I’m from Chicago and we always get tons of snow. We haven’t seen any yet, and honestly I am totally fine with that! :) I do enjoy snow around Christmas, but after that I’d be happy as a clam if it didn’t snow up again until the next Christmas!

    • Marta

Thank you, I tend to stamp half-moons because I cannot do the real ones well :D
I share your feelings for snow,… while I like looking at it as I sit by the Christmas tree, walking in the snow – or worse, driving in the snow- is not my cup of tea…

  • coraline humbert

First of all… I’m dreamin. That so sounds CHRISTMAS, this perfect season of year<3 I'm still like a child who want to have a lot of presents to open, and I like to offer gifts to the people I love. I really love your mani, I think it's above all because of the imitatation of snow on your tips which is quite a success!

I live in France as u may know, and I've seen a little snow in October, but nothing "stays" on the road or on the trees. But I was very happy with it though. Hope we'll find snow again soon <3

    • Marta

Thank you VERY much. I’m quite happy with the way the tips turned out also (I just sponged gently over my naked nail ;) ).
I have three little kids and seeing their excitement for christmas and the magic of this season is VERY contagious :D I’m excited too.

We had a little, like you describe, the night after I posted this manicure :D

  • Fingers

Marta you are a freakin mani genius! Haven’t told you that lately!!!!

    • Marta

LOL :D Thank you. Your comments always make me blush and giggle at the same time :D

  • Morgane Rauscher-Borne

Wouaaaaaaah !! This mani is just soooooooo wonderfuuuul !! :D I loe it ! It makes me dream of snow and winter and Christmas ! :D We still don’t have snow… But I am waiting forward the first snowy day ! :D

    • Marta

Thank you! I love it not only when it snows, but when the large snowflakes come down- I’m glad this reminds you of a pretty snowfall.

      • Morgane Rauscher-Borne

Aaaaaah !! they announce snow for the end of the week in my region !! :D I’m so happy ! ^^

  • Åsa Larsson

Beautiful mani! I live in Sweden and I also wonder where is the snow?

    • Marta

      *waves to you in Sweden*

I love hearing where people read my blog from, thank you for sharing :D
I’m so glad you like this look

  • Erica McCabe

I’m about 2.5 hours north of you Marta, and I too am wondering where the heck the snow is :( I’m ready for your “mounds” of snow ;)

    • Marta

      LOL :D
I think it is odd that so many parts of Canada didn’t see snow yet (and November is drawing to an end…)…
Let it snow I say ;)

  • GosiaB

This is absolutely stunning!!! Another win =)))
    no snow here either… booooo……

    • Marta

      Thank you…
We had a small drizzle the night after I posted this look ;)
Maybe if you feature a snowy manicure you will summon the white stuff too ;) lol

  • My Nail Journey

I live on the west coast of the USA and we have had some snow. Nothing to crazy, but we have had it. :-) This is a beautiful mani.

    • Marta

      Thank you :D
I love hearing where people are from :D Snow sure makes it really seem like winter right :D ? I wait for the first snowfall to really let it sink in that cold months are ahead

  • preciouspearl

I am from Atlanta. Still waiting for the snow…
    Lovely mani Marta.

    • Marta

      *Waves to you in Atlanta*
Would you believe that it snowed here the day after I posted this look :D
I’m glad you like this look, Thank you

  • Karen Lenz

Striking and simple! Very awesome! You do the half moon so well!

    • Marta

      Thank you Karen :D

I kind of stamp them out of necessity (I can’t do the REAL half moon if my life depended on it).

  • Deborah

The tips of your nails really look like little snowpiles! So cute :).

    • Marta

Thank you :D I was quite impressed at how the sponge made that happen (all on its own it seems) because I was working with a nude/un-painted base :D

  • Swatched Nails

This is a beautiful winter mani, especially the gentle snowpile tips!

    • Marta

Thank you :D I’m glad you like these

  • Kimberly Brinkley

Beautiful! I just voted for you. Good Luck!
