Elixir – What’s Your Poison?

Happy Monday Lovely Ladies!

* * * the voting for the “snow” inspired manicures on Nail Polish Canada is now live HERE!  Please take a moment to check out the entries, and vote for your favourite 😉 If that happens to be me 😉 (Chit Chat Nails) I thank you! 😉 * * *

This weekend we had our first snowfall, and while not much of the snow stuck around, it sure is starting to feel like winter is really upon us.  I showed you my swatches of Elixir Snowman Suit on Saturday, and today I have four more Elixir shades to share with you 😀

Elixir has a special promotion for CYBER MONDAY- please scroll to the bottom of the post to get more details 😉

All four of these Elixir shades are from the Lov-a-Bully Collection (bully as in canine, not teasing student 😉 ) just sayin’ 😉 .

10% of each bottle of the Lov-a-Bully Collection sold will be donated to the Atlanta Bully Rescue, an organization that works tirelessly to reduce the number of unwanted bully breeds in Atlanta and surrounding areas.

Blue Coat is a “deep navy blue with a dusting of holographic particles”

(two coats with Seche Vite)
This is such a rich and sophisticated navy blue.  The dusting of holographic particles gives this polish an added element of interest and yet still allows it to be a super elegant shade.  This would be a perfect base for a galaxy manicure, because looking at this shade truly makes me think of twinkling stars in the sky.

Happy Tears is a “slightly shimmery royal blue jelly packed with mini blue squares and white hexes”
(one coat over Essie Borrowed & Blue)
What struck me about Happy Tears is that the blue jelly had this shimmer suspended in it that gives it depth and character (the shimmer was camera shy) but it is sooooo pretty IRL!
I wish my happy tears came with perfect little blue square glitters, I’d collect them into a little baggie 😀

Brindle is a “clear coat packed with brown micro and orange holographic micro glitters, along with black hexes”
(two coats over Color Club Earthy Angel)
Black glitter always gets me- I just love it!!! AND the bronze/copper holographic glitter in this one is so unique and pretty.  In the shade it is what I would call a “more mature glitter” because of the warm and chic tones.  The fact that it is a clear base lacquer leaves the layering options wide open.
The next photo I took trying to show the holographic nature of this lacquer:

(I always leave my favourite for last 😉 )
Spotted & Splotched is a “clear coat packed with brown micro glitter and white hexes”
(One coat over China Glaze Kinetic Candy)
Honestly, Spotted & Splotched is soft and fun, it is earthy and playful… the clear jelly base allows it to be layered over many colors for a different look each time.  I would recommend this to anyone looking to try an indie brand, to play around with a glittery polish.
The application is exquisite and the results are  breathtaking… just look at that coppery-brown glitter *swoon* against the pretty white larger bits.

I really like a polish with a cause… don’t you?

Do you have a favourite from these?

What color/shape/style of glitter do you like most?

  • I love polishes with a special cause ♥ I love the Happy tears the most, will def need to order a bottle. And voted for your snow mani too 😉

    • 😀 It just makes the purchase less-guilty right!? 😉
Happy Tears is such a stunner! Nicole swatched it over a deep blue on her blog, but any shade of blue would make this one look great… even a white base would look awesome! (the shimmer is so pretty in it) 😉

  • Erica McCabe

Oh my gosh Marta! Thank you so much! Those look so unbelievably beautiful!!

    • It is my pleasure. I am reusing two of these in tomorrow’s post with some new-to-me 3D nailart- they were such gorgeous shades I had to use them again 😉

  • Christine Steiner

Thank you for showing us those awesome polishes!!!! I also like the last one best, it feels totally unique!!! And we expect a second round of snow over the weekend here in Switzerland 🙂

    • It is my pleasure= I’m glad you found these swatches helpful.
Yes, the last one is definitely special!
It is snowing right now too… tiny snowflakes and my four year old asked “if I stick my hand out, will a snowball form” 😉 not quite 😉
