Hello Lovely Ladies,
As we welcome the year 2013 I hope that you welcomed the new year with friends and loved ones. I wish you nothing but good health and happiness in this upcoming year.
As I was queuing up today’s post, I thought to myself: “Self, what polish/manicure should get the honorary spot of ‘First Post of 2013′”!?!?
I decided to dedicate today’s post to OPI’s Liquid Sand Stay the Night:

I know that I have shown you this shade in my Christmas Party manicure already, but I wasn’t all too happy about how those photos came out (this lacquer is really tricky to photograph), and I wanted to shine the spotlight on it one more time.
I did not do a best/favorite of 2012 post, but had I done one Stay the Night would have been at the top of that list for sure! This polish was the icing on the cake for shades that I tried in 2012 AND I can see it being a fan favorite for 2013 as well.

If, a few months back, someone asked me if I would be interested in a matte-finish polish that was gritty to the touch I would have laughed at them and ran to my shiny-cream finished lacquers. And yet, the OPI Liquid Sand shades are not only innovative in texture, but deserve to be tried first-hand and adored from first brushstroke.

This is two coats of Stay The Night, which applies like a black jelly polish with glitter. Once it dries however the real magic happens. I don’t quite know how to describe the final look… except “WOW”. I know it is an oxymoron to say smooth-sandpaper… but that kind of sums up the texture. It is ‘gritty’ but in a sexey/ good way. And texture asside, this glitter GLISTENS against the matte finish- an absolute amazing combo in real life!

This polish is designed to be worn on its own, without a topcoat. I would recommend being patient with it during the drying period (I would give it a good 10-15 minutes to fully settle).
I was asked by a few of you Lovely Ladies if I could show Stay the Night with a topcoat… Honestly, I just couldn’t get myself to layer a topcoat over this polish- I think it would lose its charm… I just couldn’t do it. I hope you will accept my nail-wheel swatch of Stay the Night with Seche Vite instead

As for durability: I have worn this shade at least twice since I got it for review and both times I got to day four without seeing any wear marks (just tip wear on day four); for a matte polish without topcoat this is an incredible feat… AND you will want to wear it for as long as possible- it is sooo pretty (end of run on sentence
).
Removal of this polish is like that of any glitter.

So there you have it, my first post of 2013!!!!
I hope you are having a good start to this year!
Will you be seeking out these Liquid Sand shades by OPI?
