Live, Love, Laugh… Recycle?

Hello Lovely Ladies,

Today I have a manicure that started off with a super sweet Christmas Gift from Mary (from Swatch And Learn).

Mary has become a dear friend of mine and she thought I would appreciate having China Glaze Live, Love, Laugh in my collection (given that I have “Live, Laugh, Love” tattooed on my inner-wrist)… and Mary was right!

So I thought I would show you a simple look AND a different studded look… what I call a recycled manicure πŸ˜‰

China Glaze Live, Love, Laugh is a neon berry-pink that leans ever so slightly into the red-zone πŸ˜‰Β  It is a jelly polish and required four thin coats to achieve full opacity.Β  It is a very special shade in my collection now not only for it’s name, but because it is a gift from a dear friend who is as vibrant and beautiful as this lovely shade πŸ˜‰

Pinky: two coats of Dandy Nails Moonglow (a medium toned silver/grey with holographic glitter)

Ring Finger: two coats of OPI MBSW stamped with Bundle Monster BM-311

Middle Finger: four coats of China Glaze Live, Love, Laugh

Pointer and Thumb: Cult Nails Blackout

Whenever I do a skittlette manicure (and really like it) I am tempted to wear it for as long as possible… but sometimes some nails chip faster than others… or I want to change the look a little to match my ‘outfit’ (the matchy matchy in me requires it πŸ˜‰ )… sooo, I just switch a few shade around… and… create a different look πŸ˜‰

To change this skittlette manicure I painted my middle finger with two coats of OPI Do You Lilac It and added some silver square studs from the Born Pretty Store.Β  I also applied one coat of OPI Crown Me Already to the pinky for some added bling that complimented (IMO) the silver studs πŸ˜‰

Do you ever “recycle” a manicure? Change a nail or two to give it a different feeling?

Which of these two looks do you like better?

  • Tina Shirbroun

I like the second one better, but I am a studs and purple girl myself. They are both just lovely!

    • Thank you πŸ˜‰ I think the second one is my fave also (thought I sure love the CG pink shade πŸ˜‰ )

  • SO gorgeous ! I love both combo’s (since pink and purple are two of my favourite nail polish colours ) But have unique qualities to them. I love the Studs on the OPI Do you liliac mani, and the pink Live Love Laugh makes the other mani pop β™₯

    • Thank you! I loooove the color purple… I feel calm when my eyes rest on something purple (light or dark)… and yet I don’t wear it often enough in my manicures/ clothes etc (it is almost as though I’m afraid of messing up my favourite color) lol πŸ˜€

  • I love Do you Lilac it, gorgeous

    • You and me both- that is probably my favourite creme purple

  • they look so different from each other although you only changed a nail! great πŸ™‚

    • cool right!? And it is a quick fix to spruce up a look

  • coraline humbert

ive never changed just one or two nails, just because… I’ve nerver thought of iot before, really, nice idea lol because that’s right sometimes nails cheap faster than others and I just put it all off^^ Love your manis, your ideas ! love it!

    • πŸ˜€ LOL, I’m glad you like it… I think this might be a nice way for people to try accent nails as well… wear a full manicure until it starts looking “older” and then apply a fresh accent nail or two πŸ˜‰
Awh, thank you. Your comments always lift my spirits πŸ˜€

  • Stacy Plowman-Pennock

I get super bored with my nails after about 2 days so I’m always adding things here and there or swapping out an accent finger or two. I LOVE both of these manis! πŸ™‚

    • Thank you! Sounds like you and I work the same when it comes to manicures… sometimes I like the manicure MORE after the change (of a nail or two) but don’t think it is ‘substantial’ enough to re-post in a blog… it was nice to be able to collect two and show them together πŸ˜‰

  • Live, Laugh, love is beautiful !! πŸ˜€
And this idea to recycle a mani is great ! But I don’t do it so much… ^^ I don’t know why ! lol
Anyway… Both of your manicures are nice ! ;D

    • πŸ˜€ thank you! There are other ways to recycle also, layering polish, french tips πŸ˜‰ but it is a quick way to freshen up a chipping/older look πŸ˜‰

  • Ah they are super cute! I don’t get borred so soften.. but somethimes …

    • πŸ˜‰ I think my mind wonders AND I am a huuuuge procrastinator… so I would rather change my manicure than clean the dishes so to speak πŸ˜‰

  • Joanne Proctor

Stunning as ever , I love your skittlettes, I do recycle manis a lot as work commitments mean I don’t have a lot of free time to do a full fresh mani. But at the moment I am Au naturale as I am fighting a bout of flakie nails ;(

    • Oh you and me both! I have horribly flaking nails and keep having to file them down and use a soft nail file to file the tops to smoothe them out. I hope that passes soon…

  • It is wonderful how two little changes completely transform this manicure. The first mani has a kind of punk rock appeal, for lack of a better term, while the second one in much softer, even with metal studs. I have Lime Crime Lavendairy on right now and it is wearing really well, but was just about to start chipping, so I put a layer of Julep Emma over it last night. It completely changed the polish into a shimmery lavender (I think I still prefer it as a creme, but now the manicure can survive another day or two). That is generally how I recycle a manicure or adding french tips to cover tip wear.

    • Layering polish (one over another) is a skill I hope to work on this year (I have so many pretty shades to layer with… but never seem to be brave enough to try)… but you are right, that is a perfect way to spruce up a look and make it “new”. πŸ˜‰ French tip also- I cannot create a nice straight line …. *sigh*

  • emlangille

I love this, now you know I need Live, Laugh, Love & Do You Lilac It?

    • Both of them are pretty, but OPI Do You Lilac It? is a staple in my purple collection… I would consider it the perfect cream and application is a dream! (that rhymes… but it was not intentional πŸ˜‰ )

  • Christine Steiner

So beautiful, both of them!!! As I am only a fraction as talented as you I modify my manis by adding a layer of an effect Top Coat like one of the Ozotic Sugars or Cult Nails Deception Collection πŸ˜‰

    • We each have our own talents… I do not consider myself a good “layerer” when it comes to applying one coat of polish over another (which is a shame because I have so many flakie/glitter/shimmer shade)… so in that respect you are better than I am πŸ˜‰
That is also a great way to freshen up a look πŸ˜‰

  • Lani Maverick

I like both. It was strange to read that you have changed two nails only, because by first glance, they looked very different, and I could only see that the black and white was resycled. Then I looked at them again… No, I have just recycled by adding layers, so far.

  • PolishMad

I love the idea of Recycling a mani!

  • What a great idea! I never thought of ‘recycling’ nails designs.

  • Fernanda Riffel

I knew you werw good with your nails, but good with recycling? Damn, you’re one in a million, not all of us can take good care of our hands and change their appearance with a few brush strokes! Kudos!
Also I love that OPI matches your tattoo! If I want a polish with names to match my tattoos, I need two about stars, two about swallows or birds and then one about A FREAKING LOTUS ON FIRE WITH CHERRY BLOSSOMS FLYING AROUND AND STUFF!!!
Yep, I need one of those… And take my pills too πŸ˜›

  • Hey! I love this (these?)! πŸ™‚ I have to admit I’m a little more partial to the purple mani though! lol. To answer the Q, YES I have recycled… Once I had an awesome halloween waterdecal on one nail, and I kept changing the others (3 times!) lol.

  • My Nail Journey

What a great idea! Upon first glance I couldn’t tell how they were recycled! Lol. I love both of these.
