My Entry for the Nailz Craze Contest

Hello Lovely Ladies,

A little while ago, Natalie – the creator of the Nailz Craze stamping plates – announced a contest on her blog: A Diary of a Nail Polish Addict.

The Rules: use any of the three Nailz Craze stamping plates in a manicure.

Well, I own two Nailz Craze plates (and LOVE them both)… it was a given that I would enter the contest, and would like to show you the steps, and inspiration, for my entry:

(Voting is now open HERE)

My inspiration was a binder that I recently purchased to write down all of our Maya-isms.Β  Maya is my almost-four year old free-spirited little girl, and she has a tenancy to say the cutest and most random things… after much delaying, I decided to start writing some of them down, so that I can share them with her when she gets older πŸ˜‰

(Instagram photo-I used a filter)

I started out by free-hand painting a gradient-like/cat’s-eye effect using OPI Skull and Glossbones, Essie Chinchilly and Cult Nails Blackout.

I then stamped using NC03 plate and Sally Hansen Whirlwind White:

But, I wanted to do “more” πŸ˜‰Β  so I applied a matte topcoat and added two BornPrettyStore black rhinestones.

EDIT: Public voting is now open, and you may vote HERE!

Have you turned to your surroundings for inspiration?

What is the ‘oddest’ thing that inspired one of your manicures?

  • Lou is Perfectly Polished

What a gorgeous manicure :). My sister still says the cutest things at 29 and I have always said to her that I could have written a book of them. Wish I had now πŸ™‚ xx good luck in the contest.

    • AWH… Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself with me- I appreciate that.

The notebook was a new years resolution for myself- I hope/know Maya will appreciate it down the road and maybe we can giggle about it with a glass of wine in 20 years πŸ˜‰

  • Awww such a sweet idea to write down her sayings, sure she will find the book special when she gets older. Super gorgeous mani yet again too ! Will def vote once voting starts !

    • Thank you, I’m so glad you ladies are reading the post and offering such sweet comments in addition. That truly means a lot to me.
      Thank you πŸ˜€

  • No way I’m going to be able to beat this mani. Good job Marta!

    • Awh, I saw the way you used the ‘sweater’ stamp and I loved it! I think it is tough to gage a winner- they are all so pretty in their own way- wouldn’t you agree

  • MariJo Nails

Awesome job Marta! this is really pretty and classy!

  • coraline humbert

WOOOOW wonderful !!! hope u will win <3

    • Thank you VERY much. I appreciate it

  • Lovely as always, Marta. It is so elegant too! It really looks perfect with a matte finish. Good luck. My little girl is 5, and always has me giggling with the things that come out of her mouth; I should probably write them down too, b/c I seem to be very forgetful.

    • Thank you- I wasn’t originally planning on adding the matte but I thought that with it the effect became a bit more elegant/mature.
The book was my new-years resolution- I usually text my husband/sister with all the funny things (or tweet them out sometimes) but that is not keeping permanent record and I think Maya will get a kick out of it when she is older πŸ˜‰ I encourage you to do it too- πŸ˜€ (thank you for sharing)

  • emlangille

I love how this looks. So cool!

    • Thank you! You totally need these plates for your gorgeous LONG nails πŸ˜€

  • Oh, that is beautiful! I never thought to stamp on a background like that. I just love how you come up with fresh new ideas all the time. Best of luck in the contest!

    • Thank you- I’m glad you like this pairing.
The neat thing about stamping over a gradient background/different shades is that the lines do not have to be precise- as the stamp covers up any imperfections πŸ˜‰

  • I love the colors you used ! πŸ˜€ That’s so nice !

    I also entered the contest ! πŸ™‚

    • I saw your entry today and I love how you used the dandylion stamp- I really need to use that stamp soon- every time I see lovely looks with it – like yours- I want to try it

  • PolishMadness

    beautiful! I wish good luck!!!

    • Thank you VERY much πŸ˜€

  • Jamie Willett

This is so gorgeous!! I love the gradient with the stamp over the top.

    • Thank you! AND as an added bonus- when you stamp over a gradient/different shades the lines do not have to be perfect because the stamp camouflages any wiggly spots πŸ˜‰

  • Stacy Plowman-Pennock

Oh, This is just SO beautiful Marta!!
I’ve been seeing more and more manis stamped with these plates recently and I can’t wait to get my hands on a couple of them!

    • I know that Natalie is expecting a restock within a week or two (she mentioned on Facebook). I know that price wise they are a little pricier- but they are designed by someone from within our nail-polish-enthusiast community so this adds to the charm. I love the two plates that I have a LOT

  • Lovely! I love your inspiration & excution. I need a few of these NailCraze plates!!!

    • I know you saw them in person, and the images are “large” but they are so workeable πŸ˜€ I am a huge fan and will continue to splurge on these plates as Natalie puts out more πŸ˜€

  • Lovely β™₯.

    • Thank you! I had been eying this notebook for a while- and had it in my “to try later” mental notes… this contest was a good opportunity to go for it πŸ˜€

  • Julie Rivard

Whaaat, this is pretty much brilliant!

    • LOL, Brilliant – thank you for the ego boost πŸ˜€
I’m very happy that you like this look

  • Very Beautiful!

  • Christine Steiner

Totally love your mani!!! Absolutely perfect!!! For now I write inspirational stuff down, take a quick photo or I find also lots of ideas on Pinterest Amazing World. I look forward to translating all of them into actual manis!!!!

    • Oh yes, Pinterest is incredible for collecting ideas- this is THE time for nailart- inspiration is everywhere πŸ˜€
      Thank you for sharing πŸ˜€
