Harlow & Co & Cirque

Author: marta  //  Category: Cirque, OPI

Hello Lovely Ladies,

As of this weekend, Harlow & Co has officially added Cirque lacquers to her inventory.  While Harlow & Co is based out of Ontario Canada, Katie ships internationally, and I am always excited to hear that she is adding more and more brands … so many goodies in one friendly place ;)

Today, I would like to show you FOUR Cirque Lacquers:

* CAUTION… MANY photos in this post *

Cirque French Roast is described as: “A sparkling bronze glitter polish that reflects gold and copper”

(One coat over a brown cream polish)

French Roast surprised me a on few levels.  First, by glancing at the bottle I expected this shade to be build-able, however the glitter and glass felckes are suspended in a clear base that would need a number of coats to reach opacity.  Therefore I pulled out a Barbra Colour Alike Brown Czekoladka and layered French Roast over it.  I didn’t expect to love this shade so much but the brown, orange, gold and olive shimmery/sparkly bits were so subtle and yet so sparkly!!!  Very reminiscent, (not dupes) of two of my favourite shades: China Glaze Midtown Magic and OPI Holiday Glow

(if you are not brown fan, you could layer this over an orange, a black, etc) ;)

* * * *

Cirque Fascination Street is described as: “A vibrant indigo polish with a rainbow holographic finish”

(two coats, no topcoat)

Indigo blue with purple undertones, leaning navy depending on the lighting… but wait! This IS a fairly strong linear holo!!!!

* * *

B-E-A-UTIFUL, right!?

* * * *

Cirque Cape Liz is described as: “A moody light blue with multi-dimensional shimmer”

(three coats)

“Moody” does describe Cape Liz quite well.  This shade rests right between grey and blue… it is dusty and somber with some soft glass flecks in silver, purple and blue.  I kept thinking Cult Nails Disciplined (but much bluer).

This is a really delicate shade with some close-up interest :D

* * * *

You know I always save the best for last right!? (and what beats the gorgeous deep blue holo of Fascination Street?)

Cirque XX is described as “A rainbow glitter polish made with over 20 different types of holographic particles”.

(one coat over Cape Liz)

All I can say about this one is WOW!  XX has a variety of shapes and sizes of glitter (many of which are holo)… but the most fascinating thing is that the other glitters are the exact same color as the ‘hues’ in the holo bits.  As a result, it looks like your nails are spotted with constant holo goodness (even in the shade)!  In fact, I had my glitter-tip manicure on when Katie dropped these off, and I applied one coat of XX over the accent nail.  I didn’t take a good soft-box photo, but here is my iphone quick snap.

This is genuinely one of the most spectacular glitter mixes I own.

I wanted to try one more ‘experiment’ by layering one sheer coat of OPI Funny Bunny to create a glitter-sandwich look ;)

    Beautiful swatches! I recently ordered Fascination Street and French Roast (Cape Liz was my third choice but I couldn’t justify spending that much money). I expected French Roast to be opaque as well, so it’s very interesting that you had to layer it! I can’t wait to see them in person now, they look so gorgeous!

      I am glad to hear that you liked my swatches- and that you ordered a few of these and they are on route to your house.
      At first I was shocked with French Roast because I did expect it to be opaque- but this only means it can be used in combination with other shades ;)

    OOO ! Wow these are such gorgeous polishes !! I love Cirque Fascination Street , I’m a sucker for blue nail polish, and holographic nail polishes, so these two combined in one polish will be fantastic ! Will need to look into getting a bottle for sure !

      I know the holo would not disappoint you! It is true, the blue is similar to the likes of OPI “I Saw, You Saw, We Saw…Warsaw” but with a rainbow thrown in ;)

  • Sonal

    you have described Cirque XX so well :)

    I’m so glad there’s a lot of photos! That would mean lotsa eye candies an drooling! Love love love Cirque Fascination Street! 1st reason: Its blue. 2nd: There’s really nothing not to love about it! Soo darn beautiful! Cirque XX definitely gems in a bottle! I so adore the variety of glitters in it! The mix is definitely one of the most unique yet! *jots down names into wishlist* (LOL!)

      Awh, you are so sweet with your comment. Thank you!
      I struggle putting together swatch photos, because while I know there are better swatchers than myself I also cannot eliminate/cut down on photos… lol
      The Glitter one XX is definitely MY favourite from the bunch, glad you added it to your wish list ;)

    So funny, I am currently wearing Cape Liz and was thinking of layering XX over it this evening to wear it one more day :-) Cape Liz is such a dreamy shade, I love it more than I expected.

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      did you end up layering the two!? We were nail twins for a second ;)

      • http://www.facebook.com/petra.specht.73 Petra Specht

        :-) yes, I layered them and wore it now one full day. Now I will change my manicure completely, just thinking right now about the colour.

  • GosiaB

    I love Cirque!!! And Annie, the creator, is one of the nicest people out there!! (Which I think is very important for indie makers). Surprisingly, I only have one out of these!! WTH!! Gotta fix that!!!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      ;) I agree with you, when the mastermind behind the polish is nice, friendly, and approachable- you are more inclined to love the shades ;)
      You would love these ;)

      Thank you, thank you, Thank you!!!
      Fascination street is a great deep base holo- I tend to only own light holos so this was neat!

  • MariJo Nails

    I’m so in love with Annie’s polishes. I have a few of these and really need to wear them. Great swatches as always Marta!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      Thank you, glad you like the swatches.

      Annie is definitely very talented in coming up with these shades- get them out of your untried pile ;)

  • http://www.lovevarnish.com/ Deborah

    Love your swatches, 2013 will be the year I acquire some of these ;)!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      ;) I have been eyeing this brand from afar- I welcomed the opportunity to try it. The formula is overall great to work with. A slight bit sheer with French Roast and Cape Liz… but layerable ;)

  • http://twitter.com/NorthernNails Northern Nails

    Loving this brand especially French Roast and Fascination street wow a beauty! Lovely swatches :D

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      Thank you!

      I normally stick to light holo shades- so this was quite fun

  • http://manglingmymanicure.blogspot.com/ Alexis

    I’ve been in love with French Roast for a while, but I didn’t realize that it was somewhat sheer . . . I have to admit that I’ve been enjoying the little bit sheer polishes lately, for their versatility and ability to completely transform another polish with a quick coat..

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

      I agree with you, a sheer shade gives you the chance to experiment with layering- more versatile.

    I have seen so many swatches of Cirque Lacquer. They are so pretty. I love the jelly sandwich <3

  • carolingq

    Fascination Street is my favorite. What a beautiful blue!

  • Christine Steiner

    Such beautiful colors and immaculate swatches :-)!!! I am a big fan of Cirque and gladly own the one or the other. Fascination Street was my first ever holographic polish. This reveals that I joined the holomania not too long ago ;-)

  • http://twitter.com/KLenz85 Karen Lenz

    Something about Cirque makes it seem so classy. I don’t own any, but I’ve been lemming a few since I saw Scrangies swatches (a while ago!) and your swatches are making me want more!!!!!!x100 I actually really love the brown glitter, I think it would look good with a glitter tip and a light *coughSan Tan-Toniocough* brown lol!!
