Shimmer Saturdays – Part 1

Hello Lovely Ladies,

I don’t know how I went from being a 2-3 times per week blogger to a 6 times per week blogger! *gasp*

I am very excited to have so many manicures to show you, to share so many product reviews with you… trying to squeeeeeeeze them into a manageable time schedule is another thing however ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  When I got 21 bottles of Shimmer Polish, I will admit, I was overwhelmed with the amazing glitter-bombs before me, and how I would ever give them the attention they deserve.

I tend to wear glitters as an ‘accent’ (accent nail, a bit of glitter at the tips etc).ย  As a way to challenge myself, here is what I have decided:ย  for the next seven Saturdays (fingers crossed that I can stick to this plan) I will show you three Shimmer shades… both swatches AND a (hopefully) neat way to wear it ๐Ÿ˜€

Without further ado, here is Karen, Strength (a request by emmy_bach24 on Instagram), and Irene (a request by Karen):

Ready! Set! (lots of photos ahead)

Shimmer Polish Karen is described as a “Lavender pink with a hint a plum Glitter Polish!”

(three coats)

I was swatching this shade when Peter walked by, and he exclaimed “whoa, that is some intense glitter!” ๐Ÿ˜€

I agree.ย  This is one AMAZING glitter bomb! Pink and purple glitters mixed in with all sorts of other glittery bits (including some super pretty holo).ย  I truly adore this shade and think (though NOT a dupe at all), that Karen‘s WOW-Factor is comparable to the likes of OPI Mad As A Hatter.

* * *

I added some stripes (ode to Salla) with Barielle Allie’s Lace Cover Up (one of my prizes from Anutka’s contest) and some white and black striping polish.

Karen can be purchased HERE.

Shimmer Polish Irene is described as a “Champagne Golden Silver Glitter Polish!”

(three thin coats)

Champagne toned gold glitter with some silver glitter is a perfect description.ย  Did I mention this is packed with holo tiny bits too?ย  This is one of those micro fine glitters that creates an overall blingtastic unit ๐Ÿ˜€ย  This glitter would be perfect for those who aren’t into straight-up gold (as this is a softer lighter gold), and those who don’t like the ‘big’ glitter bits.

I tried a sophisticated ruffian look with this shade by adding one coat of Barielle Erica’s Pencil Skirt.

Irene can be purchased HERE.

Shimmer Polish Strenght is described as: “Teal and Silver with Hearts Glitter Polish!”

* Donations will be made to support PCOS! *

(three coats)

I really like the color combination in this polish.ย  I could see the silver hearts floating around in the bottle but they are a rare-treat and I didn’t get any this time (BUT when I painted my daughter Maya’s nails with this shade she spotted the hearts and we did get one ๐Ÿ˜€ ).

This is the perfect mixture of cool toned micro-fine and medium sized silver glitters, fine holo bits, and turquoise glitter of various sizes :D.

I wanted to add a stamp.ย  I was hoping to go for a flower against a wire-fence look… sort of like ‘surviving against the odds’ ๐Ÿ˜‰

Base: essence Got a Secret, with Mash-41 and China Glaze Millenium for the fence background and RA-121 with essence Let’s Get Lost for the flowers (dotted with Strength).

Strength can be purchased HERE.

These Shimmer shades applied with ease… each brushstroke is filled with glitter so you can build it up (as was the case here with three fast drying coats) OR you can layer these over any shade of your choice.

Which of these three do you like the most?

Is there a Shimmer shade you’d like me to swatch next?

Any glitter techniques you would like me to try next?

A sea of glitter – how beautiful. Of course your mani with the stamping is my favorite. However my skills are still nowhere of presentable and I simply have no time for practicing not to mention that I can not wear it to work. But the technique you showed with Irene is actually one I will try – I feel this is moderate enough to carry at the office.

    • Thank you!!!
The technique with Irene is neat in that you could wear glitter for the weekend ๐Ÿ˜‰ and come monday apply a cream polish over it ๐Ÿ˜‰ presto- work ready manicure… it would be quite pretty with a soft cream shade over it also (stay tuned for THIS Saturday’s post *wink wink, hint hint* ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

  • Lou is Perfectly Polished

    • Well, bottoms up -a day that starts with Java is my favourite also ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m so glad that you make the time to check out my blog- that means a LOT ๐Ÿ˜€

I saw 2 polishes on the Etsy shop which must be soooooo stunning :Katherine and Karina. ^^ But they are all beautiful ! *glitterglittergitterglitterglitter* :p

    • Irene is very striking and soft- while still being glitter-tastic ๐Ÿ˜‰
Would you believe that neither of the two you mention I own!? That means there are soo many other glittery pretties in her shop *sigh* ๐Ÿ˜€

      • Honnestly… I want them all… lol But I can’t : it would not be reasonable ! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  • Shimmer Polish

  • Kimber_Bling

Marta ~ the Irene look is something I’ve never ever seen before and I love it! It seems easy to do so I will be trying it for sure ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I have seen the Ruffian manicure look before but this is only my second time trying it… it is an acquired taste (me thinks) but worth at least one go at it ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hope you DO try it.

  • Just make sure you don’t burn out doing so many posts in a week! I
d hate to have you quit!!

    • ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thank you!
I will keep a level head about it. I love this too much to let it burn me out, and I’m grateful for review opportunities etc… but yes, as a blogger it is a challenge to find a balance.

Thank you for your kind and supportive comment

  • Thank you ๐Ÿ˜€ The Shimmer shades really are quite sparkly and pretty.
