piCture pOlish – Honey Dew

Hello Lovely Ladies,

It has been a while since I have been THIS excited about a nail polish shade.  In fact, when I was taking photos, Peter watched me run back and fourth from the softbox and asked to see my nails.  He said “I can tell you’re really excited about this one”.

Today, I would like to show you piCture pOlish Honey Dew!

* * *

piCture pOlish Honey Dew is a gorgeous borderline-neon mint green shade.  Just like it says on the bottle this shade truly is “sweet’n light, juicy ‘n bright“.  Though I keep wanting to call it a mint-green, it brighter than your average pastel polish, and though it is a cream shade it has this glossy depth to it… I am all googly-eyed for this shade, honestly!

(two coats)

Honey Dew applies like a dream and is fully opaque in two coats- if you are very light on your coats, you may need three.

I was not just going to swatch this shade, I really wanted to wear it! 😉

* * *

I left my pinky and thumb painted with Honey Dew for a pop of fashionably awesome color 😀  The rest of the nails I painted with essence Got A Secret (a grey that leans slightly purple on me).  I had seen this technique of the transition-animal-print nails somewhere but have unfortunately lost the source (if you have seen this before please let me know in the comment section so I can give due credit).

For the stamping I used Konad plate m57 (for the full nail zebra and cheetah print) and Konad plate m78 for the split-nail image on my middle finger.  I stamped with Barielle One Shade of Gray (a prize from Anutka and a gorgeous deep grey with a fun name).

I thought you might find a super quick comparison photo helpful, so I paired Honey Dew with Revlon Minted and Essie Turquoise & Caicos:

(Honey Dew, Minted and Turquoise & Caicos)

Revlon Minted is much pastier/paler and mintier looking IRL in comparison to Honey Dew.

Turquoise & Caicos is a darker more turquoise shade, dustier and requires 2x the coats in comparison to Honey Dew.

Good Gravy & Holy Moses! I had to immediately pin this and your gorgeous mani. I just…Omigosh…~no words~!

    • LOL!!!! Your comment made me blush and giggle at the same time!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Glad you like it this much 😉

  • When I saw this mani on instagram I was SOOOO in love with the colours and design !!! REALLY gorgeous, I love how fun and girly the mani looks ! And yet again you blow us all away with a stunning design ! ♥

    • Awh, thank you SO much. I had a busy day with the girls’ birthday party today (preperation, over 9 children under the age of 6 at our house + their parents etc)… it was busy and a bit loud. I felt strangely exhausted (though it was overall a good day). Comments like yours definitely help in making my evening a bright one- thank YOU!

  • This is one of the cutest manis I have ever seen omg I nearly squealed! I’m so in love with this one!! Great job 🙂

    • lol… THANK YOU! I’m so glad you like it… I timed this one in such a way that I could wear it for FOUR days (between swatching). I really liked it. Thank you 😀

  • Wow, I really love the turquoise colour, with your skin tone, makes it stand out even more! But essie is my favourite. Do you any have stamping tips? I can never get it right!

    • Thank you! I think Honey Dew would look great on anyone, but it definitely popped ‘neon-ish’ against my pale fingers 😉
      Stamping tips… hmmmm:
Practice and patience is key with stamping but the other important elements are to have a good stamping polish (not too runny or it will smudge, or too thick). I find that chrome shades are great to practice with (ex Essie metallic collection).

      A few quick tips:
      1. work fast (if you take your time between painting the image, stamping, and transfering to the nail the image will not dry out).
      2. I PRESS the stamper onto the image plate straight down with a firm press (straight down- no wiggling 😉 )
      3. I ROLL the stamper over my nail from one side of the nail to the other. I often peek under the stamper to make sure I align it properly. One smooth motion- from one side to the other.

      I hope this helps?

      • Yes, thanks for your tips, they definitely help. The work fast part is for sure my biggest problem. I guess I just need more practice. 🙂

  • MariJo Nails

This is such a gorgeous shade!!! I love what you did with this mani!

    • Thank you 😀 I’m really glad you like it

  • coraline humbert

    • lol 😀 You comment made me smile- THANK YOU!
Ah yes, the Tiffany blue and the tiffany bracelet (my prized posession). this one is definitely MORE green a more neon- but has the same ‘personality’ to Tiffany blues 😉

  • Lovely shade indeed – love the manicure you did with it!

    • Thank you kindly Lovely Lady

  • Aaaah minty green! I love it! Oh Martha your animalprints are so gorgeous.

    • 😀 Thank you- this was a personal favourite of mine also 😀 Glad you liked it

  • lotte noles

Wow, this could be my new favorite green ( sorry For Audrey by China Glaze). I so love seeing all your designs. They just make my day and make me smile!

    • Yes! I have for Audrey and Honey Dew definitely leans more green and is almost ‘more’ neon 😉
Wow, I’m so glad you enjoy my posts- that truly means a LOT to me. Thank YOU for tuning in!

  • I really really like this one 😀 the combination of colours and prints is just so cute!

    • Thank you. I am glad you like it (it was one of my favourites also)

  • I love this!! I can’t believe I haven’t seen it ever before.. this is such a creative idea to transition from one animal print to another!! I have a bunch of your manicures piling up that I want to try… I might have to do a “chitchatnails inspired week” lol!

    • Funny you should say that, because I spent a little bit of time on your blog thinking that maybe YOU were the source of my inspiration for this transition look 😀 LOL
A chit chat week of inspired looks would blow my mind! (BUT, I also know that you A) you have a ton of fantabulistic ideas and B) you have made me want to try multiple looks as well 😀 Maybe we could do a mirror week or something (I copy you, you copy me 🙂 )lol

      • A mirror week would be awesome!! I will keep it in mind 😉

  • carolingq

I love this so much!! Beautiful pictures Marta!

    • Thank you VERY much my dear friend

  • Christine Steiner

Marta, you are the skittlette Queen!!! This is simply beautiful. I am a huge picture polish fan and working on assembling their polishes one by one. This definitvely sits on my wishlist too 🙂

    • 😀 LOL, thank you! Another superb title (I’m humbled).
Oh, please put this one at the top of your list… I have tried three of their shades thus far and I really do enjoy their formula 😀

  • Lou is Perfectly Polished

I am yet to try any of the beautiful picture polish range but lots of lovely swatches are cropping up telling me it won’t be long until I make a purchase 🙂

    • So far, I have tried three of their shades and really like the formula and how well they wear. I do like the range of colours as well as the unique bottle shapes… worth a try in the near future 😉

OH, and I have added an international resellers link at the bottom of this post to find piCture pOlish distributors near you 😉

  • This color is beautiful. It is my favorite color of top to wear because of my skin tone…I definitely need this!

    • This shade would look good on anyone IMO… I absolutely love that it is pastel/neon… and the formula is great also

  • Awesome nails! Could you at least try and explain the splitting prints technique, please? I can’t understand how it’s done 🙁

    • Hi Yulia,

Sorry for the late reply. The middle finger image (splitting image) is actually ALL in one plate. I am attatching a photo from the http://www.wowsocool.com website that I got this Konad plate from. I hope this helps (I believe they have free international shipping after $25)… I buy all of my authentic Konad plates from them.

  • Kayla Angus

Once again a perfect manicure. I drool all over my computer every time you post one of your fantastic skittlettes. Now on to the polish!! Normally this colour is one that I would pass by, but seeing it on you makes me want it so bad. You have become such a horrible horrible person for my wallet! But such a great person for my fingertips!! 🙂

  • This is such a gorgeous combination! Honey Dew looks great on you.

    • Thank you so much! I am glad you liked this look. This is a personal favourite of mine for sure (both color wise and design wise).
