Happy Chinese New Year to you all!

As I mentioned/promised in yesterday’s post, today is a special request post created for Julie, who asked for a Chinese New Year inspired manicure.  While I do not celebrate this day myself, I was up for this sweet challenge – I hope I do it justice.

I have read up a little about it on Wikipedia and this year is the Year of the Snake, so I tried to work it into my manicure

I knew I wanted to play with red and black, and I also wanted to add some gold (as I thought it was fitting)… but glitter doesn’t hurt either My glitter choice was Shimmer Sophie which is a mostly soft pink glitter polish with gold elements as well as iridescent (gold/green) glitter.

Some of you keep reminding me of my personal lightly-followed rule of “glitter on the pinky”… well, I am sticking to that rule this time and I used the glitter elements to further inspire my Chinese New Year look

For the pointer and middle finger I used two coats of China Glaze With Love.  I stamped using Konad plate s6 (I was tempted to stamp in gold, but last minute chose to use the bolder black polish).  For the ring finger I stamped using BM-215 and applied both gold (China Glaze Passion) and black polish onto the plate to create the duo-colored stamped image of the SNAKE
