Shimmer Saturdays – Part 4

Author: marta  //  Category: SHIMMER

Hello Lovely Ladies,

Though I haven’t had a lot of work on my plate lately, I feel like time is zooming by.  All through Thursday I was convinced that it was actually only Wednesday, and I’m still doing double takes as to how quickly time is flying.

I am excited for today’s Shimmer Saturday post, because I tried a technique for the first time- and there is something really rewarding about building up the courage to try something new, and it in turn actually working out.

In this fourth installment of Shimmer Polish Saturdays I would like to show you:

* Shimmer Stephanie *

* Shimmer Alice *

*Shimmer Vanessa *

Shimmer Polish Stephanie is described as a: “Bright Royal Blue, Navy Glitter Polish!”

(one coat over China Glaze Little Drummerboy)

I really lake the glitter combo in Stephanie.  Most of the glitter is small/medium size with a few larger bits in between.  While the glitter is predominantly deep blue, there are red and purple and gold bits (as well as some holo) that really kick this shade up a notch.

(pinky and ring finger China Glaze Electric Beat)

(I used the dry polish on a ziploc bag technique for this design. I will have a picture tutorial/step by step tutorial in tomorrow’s post)

Shimmer Polish Alice is described as: “Discoball Silver Holographic (w Stars) Glitter Polish!”

(sponged on tips over Revlon Minted)

This truly is a holographic disco ball.

I own quite a few silver/holographic glitter shades already, so a polish really has to WOW me for it to stand out and stay in my collection.  Alice did just that!

For me personally it is not the occasion star glitter that had me intreagued… it is the entire polish itself.  The application is nice and smooth, and I really like the ratio and sizes of silver holo bits in this one.  It is not just medium/large glitters suspended in a clear base, or just crushed bits- it is a perfect union of both.  Really ideal for my favourite look: the “glitter tips”

I strongly recommend this polish to those of you who already own silver/holo glitters and those who don’t.  I for one am happy to add it to my collection.  *insert big grin on my face here* ;)

Shimmer Vanessa is described as: “Dark Gray Silver Pewter Glitter Polish! with a hint of red and other colors.”

(one coat over Sally Hansen Celeb City)

(direct light)

OOOOOH-WEEEEE is how I feel about Vanessa (as in the polish, because I don’t know any Vanessas IRL ;) ).

Vanessa has a predominantly charcoal/pewter and holographic silver fine glitter mix, with some medium silver bits, medium black bits and some fine red glitter.  The base jelly of Vanessa seems slightly grey tinted as well which adds to the overal darker feel of this silver polish.  I ADORE IT!  It is not often that you get charcoal grey glitter with such sparkle- soooo sooo sooo pretty!

Again, I tried the ziploc bag and polish technique (quick post on that tomorrow):

I was itching to add a little bit more… so I did:

Shimmer Polish can be purchased on Etsy HERE (and for those of you who are looking for international shipping, I have heard that Harlow & Co will soon be carrying a selection of Shimmer Polish shades ;) )

Have you tried any of these techniques?

Which of these three shades do YOU like most?

THANK YOU FOR READING!

I LOVE using the ziplock bag polish technique ! I even use some of my very small scrapbooking stamps on them sometimes ! GORGEOUS as always, I really love the Shimmer Stephanie mani ! Beyond gorgeous !!

Do you know, is there an actual term for this technique? lol I randomly called it the ziploc bag technique but it sounds a little odd ;) Isn’t it a neat way to play with polish… I had some tearing of the polish at first because I rushed it… but I learned my lesson ;) Scrapbooking stamps sound awesome to use!!!! :D

  • Shimmer Polish

What creative designs! I love it! :)

:D Thank you! I’m so glad you like these- this is probably (collectively) my favourite post. I was happy to try a new technique ;)

      • Shimmer Polish

        I am in awe! :)

  • Lou is Perfectly Polished

All three are so pretty. Your different technique to showcase each polish is very clever. Looking forward to your tutorial xx

Thank you! I am so happy you are enjoying these Saturday posts- my hamster wheels are definitely turning trying to come up with new ideas and techniques and yet keeping the focus on the pretty glitters ;) Thank you!

  • Christine Steiner

All three are very pretty though the first two captured my polished heart – my credit card trembles in fear for the Shimmer Polish launch with Harlow & Co ;-)

lol ;) I was excited to hear that Harlow & Co will carry the Shimmer shades- a select few at first because there are soooooo many Shimmer shades altogether. I hope you snatch a few good ones ;)

  • Lacqueerisa Says

Wow so pretty! I love the layering you did for Shimmer Stephanie! I’m love everything that’s dark blue-ish. Hahaha! That colour never fails to make me happy despite it being blue.. LOL. I would usually give a pass at Shimmer Vanessa, but the nail art you did for it… changed my view on this polish! Love it! Love love love the abstract designs. You’re such an inspiration! Ahh, totally looking forward to tomorrow’s post! So curious about this new technique you tried!

I am really happy to see so many positive responses to my Stephanie manicure- It isn’t a shade I normally wear, so I’m not as confident pairing it. Thank you.

Vanessa, in the bottle looked just ok to me, but once on the nail and over Celeb City I realized how charcoal it actually is and the red and black litter mixed in adds so much character to the polish- worth a consideration- I really like it personally! :D

I hope you find tomorrow’s tutorial helpful- let me know if there is anything in tomorrow’s post that needs clarifying any further (though the technique is quite simple ;) )

  • coraline humbert

I’m utterly in love with your second mani, simple but very effective ! And the geomatric one too is perfect !

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

You and I seem to share similar preferences ;) The mint and silver was my favorite combo as well… I can see myself wearing that pairing again for sure! (I will try the geometric shape one soon as well – next time maybe on only a few nails as an accent)

Stephanie is lovely. I really like the contrast between the creme and glitter against Electric Beat.

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

I’m so glad you like that one. I don’t normally get excited for blue shades (unless they are pastel)… but even I was happy with the blue glitter- It is nice to see that so many Ladies like it :D

  • MariJo Nails

That mani with Stephanie is AWESOME!! I love it!

    • http://www.chitchatnails.com/ Marta

Thank you! I am happy to hear that that one seems to be a fan favourite ;)
